Visit to the University of Chicago

I am Stephen G. Simpson, a mathematician at the Pennsylvania State University.

During September 14-19, 2007 I visited the University of Chicago.

On September 14 I gave a seminar talk in the University of Chicago Department of Mathematics. The title of my talk was Mass Problems. My abstract is available in several formats: PDF, PS, DVI, HTML, plain text. My slides are available in several formats: PDF, PS.

During September 15-19 I participated in a workshop on algorithmic randomness, also at the University of Chicago. This is part of our large collabortive research project which is funded by the National Science Foundation.

As part of the workshop I gave a 2-hour tutorial on Martin-Löf randomness, LR-reducibility, almost everywhere domination, and duality. In addition I gave a 1-hour research talk entitled Recent Aspects of Mass Problems: Symbolic Dynamics and Intuitionism. My abstract is available in several formats: PDF, PS, DVI, HTML, plain text. My slides are available in several formats: PDF, PS.

A list of my recent and upcoming talks is available.

My publication list is available.
