Logic and Dynamical Systems

I am Stephen G. Simpson, a mathematician at the Pennsylvania State University.

As part of the Joint Mathematics Meetings to be held January 5-8, 2009 in Washington, DC, I organized a Special Session on Logic and Dynamical Systems. The session took place on Monday, January 5 and Tuesday, January 6. Thus our session did not conflict with the January 7-8 ASL talks.

Some general information about the session is available here in several formats: PDF, PS, DVI. Institutional sponsors of the session were the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Association for Symbolic Logic (ASL). The speakers in the session were:
Steve Simpson, C.-T. Chong, Dan Rudolph, Doug Cenzer, Christian Rosendal, Asger Tornquist, Alice Medvedev, Scott Schneider, Jeremy Avigad, Philipp Gerhardy, John Clemens, Matt Foreman, Su Gao, Alexander Shen, Mike Hochman, Tom Meyerovitch, Dan Mauldin, Steve Jackson, Joe Miller, Jarkko Kari, Mark Braverman, Inessa Epstein, Slawomir Solecki. Slides from many of the talks are available.

As part of the session I gave a 15-minute talk on Symbolic dynamics and degrees of unsolvability. My abstract is available here in several formats: PDF, PS, DVI, HTML, plain text. My slides are available here in several formats: PDF, PS.

Slides from my recent and upcoming talks are available.

Some of my recent publications are available.
