Series: Penn State Logic Seminar Date: Tuesday, October 17, 2000 Time: 2:30 - 3:20 PM Place: 307 Boucke Building Speaker: Alice Medvedev, Mathematics Department, Penn State Title: Determinacy of Infinite Two-Player Games Abstract: I will define infinite two-player games with perfect information, and talk about some useful ways of looking at them. I'll construct an undetermined game, and prove a few simple results, like the determinacy of an open game. Determinacy turns out to have deep connections with analysis (determined sets have nice regularity properties, like measurability), and with set theory (determinacy of certain complicated sets is equivalent to the existence of certain large cardinals).
